Hi Ilene, Just a note to tell you & your staff how very happy we are
with all your services and the great treatment our baby "nite man"
received at camp. You can be assured that as long as we are close to
your camp it will be the ONLY place we will let our beloved boy visit.
Bonita & I couldn't have been happier with his care at camp Ilene!
Again Thank you ALL so very much, Henry & Bonita Whitt
(aka nite mans mom & dad )
Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Patches. She must have had a great time, because she was pooped-out for a couple of days. It is nice to know that there is someone that you can trust to take good care your best little friend when it is impossible for you to take them along with you when you travel. We have had family and friends say they would watch Patches when we are away, but I feel more comfortable leaving her in your care, knowing that she is going to get a lot of attention and have fun. Just out of curiosity, how did she do with the other dogs? Well, I hope. My wife and I discussed bringing her to day camp to help maintain her social skills. Also, our kids were excited that their dog went to camp and not a kennel. You have a new customer and we look forward to seeing you again and knowing that Patches is well cared for when we travel.

For all those future Camp Ilene visitors... We first started visiting Ilene in Mission Viejo
in 1996 when we moved to California with our 8 week old golden, Tucker. Ilene has been an important part of our family ever since. She has been there to help and in friendship...whether it was calling her about a naughty pup or crying on her shoulder with the loss of our Tucker or helping us find our new pup, Cooper. Like so many of these testimonials have stated, we share an appreciation for the peace of mind Ilene gives us knowing that she will not only take care of our 'best friends', she will also give them the love and affection they thrive on. Ilene, your energy, true love of dogs, and thoughtfulness has made a big difference in our lives; thank you from the bottom of our hearts... Bob, Patti, Patrick, and Betsy Deuster
I am finally rested up enough to say “Thank You,” for my super visit at Camp Ilene. I want to tell you that I had a great time, but was I ever tired! First thing I looked for when I walked in the door was my bed in the family room. I spent the afternoon snoozing. You know I was exhausted when I slept through playtime with my friends and reluctantly woke up for a little bite of dinner. Ilene, you know how I love my food, I left most of it in my bowl and went to the sofa to go back to sleep. At “bedtime” mom took me out to do my thing and when I came in I didn’t even want to find a toy and see if she would play. I went straight to the bedroom to my comfy bed. I slept till morning. When I woke up I needed to do some good stretching of the legs. We went for our usual walk; I ate, and guess what? I went back to sleep for most of the day. Finally, in the afternoon, when I realized that it was time to go to the park to play with my dog pals, I decided I better get up and get moving. We played chasing balls and each other for about an hour. They wondered where I had been for the past week and why Jake could beat me in a race to the ball. I told them all that I had been on a great vacation at Camp Ilene, where I played all day long and just like people, when they go on a trip, I needed a couple of days rest to get my speed back. I told them that if they were LUCKY, they would get to go to Camp Ilene for a vacation too. I told them that camp is so much better than riding in a car for a long time or riding in the scary, dark, cold belly of an airplane to get somewhere, then having to sit in my crate in a hotel room while mom and dad go to places that don’t allow me in. I’m already looking forward to coming back to camp. Love Luci
Turbo is my constant companion. He helps me with the hoses, he bites nasty little rodent heads, and keeps us laughing all the time. At home, he keeps the demons away and keeps my feet warm. The thought of putting him in a cold cage with strangers while I go off on my trips to Ireland is out of the question. He goes to Auntie Ilene's house, where he plays with his friends Mick and Magic and whoever else is there, and at the end of the day he crawls under the covers with Auntie Ilene and has feet to curl up with. Sometimes LOTS of other dog feet too. I know that he will be well cared for, and I get emails from Ilene reassuring me that he is fine. So, no matter if I'm in Ireland or Nevada, Turbo has a safe and happy place to spend his time. Another thing: Turbo was a bit of a bully until he went to Ilene's. The socialization he got there has made him a MUCH better dog. He used to lunge and try to fight with every dog he saw. Ilene's careful introduction to the other dogs (with Magic's help) has made him friendly, social and dependable around other dogs. PLEASE contact me if I can be of assistance in putting your mind at ease in leaving your dog with Ilene. Ruthanna Bridges, Bridges Training Stable 949.858.0970.
I love Camp Ilene! So does Fleur, my two year-old lab-shepherd mix, who asked me to write on her behalf. Here is Fleur’s story: Last August when I moved to Corona, my mom and I felt like complete outsiders. We didn’t really know anything about our new home. I found my mother when she came to the Long Beach Animal Shelter looking for a companion. I was rather shy then, but I knew that we would make a good team. She took me home and my life has really changed. She tells me that I saved her life. My mom is a college professor and she keeps strange work hours. I felt very lonely when she went to work. I mean, I only have one sibling and his name is Buddy. Buddy is an old orange and white tomcat, who is pretty set in his ways. He doesn’t have time to play with me. I try to get him to play games, but he seems to prefer his own company. I told my mom that I was unhappy being home alone. She understood right away. She went online and found a really interesting place called Camp Ilene. Mom took me there to meet Ilene, who is the nicest person I know, after my mom. At first I was shy that is my nature you understand. I am a very calm and mostly quiet young lady. I soon grew to love Camp Ilene. I have lots of fun there with all the other ’kids.’ I’m always really happy on the days I go to doggy daycare, because I know that I’ll get to romp and play with all of my friends. Did I mention that I have a boyfriend? His name is Zeus and he is the dreamiest Akita ever! Camp Ilene is my favorite place to be when I can’t be home with my mom. My name is Fleur Levin and I hope that your parents will be as good to you as my mom is to me. She knows that it is better for me to be with other ‘kids’, because I am a social animal after all. Camp Ilene is the best place for all of us social animals, when our moms and dads have to be away.
PS: I got to spend a week at Camp Ilene when my mom went to a conference last month. I didn’t really have time to miss her because there is always so much to do at Camp Ilene.
We LOVE Camp Ilene, and highly recommend it to you and your favorite dog. We discovered Camp Ilene last year when we decided to take our daughters to see New York City over spring break and we weren’t sure what to do with our Golden Retriever puppy, Kobe. Our dog is very much a part of our family, he goes camping with us, he lives in the house with us, he brings us so much joy, and OK, maybe he is a little spoiled! It was our first time to leave him, and we couldn’t bear to leave him in a kennel, so I began looking for an alternative. One day I found an advertisement for Camp Ilene and thought it sounded perfect. I called and asked to come and see the facility, and I was so happy to find a huge, clean yard, filled with about 10 very happy, well-behaved dogs. There were wading pools, plenty of clean water to drink, and lots of fun doggie toys outside. There were also sturdy security gates circling the property. Inside, it seemed everywhere I looked there were doggie beds and pillows here and there, and it was obvious that the dogs were welcomed inside. I knew I had found Kobe’s “home away from home”. Well, Kobe had a wonderful week at Ilene’s, he came home so happy and so tired! Since then, Kobe has been back at Ilene’s for a couple of additional vacation trips: he’s also spent a few days of daycare at Camp Ilene when we have had busy weeks where we didn’t want to leave him alone during the day; and Kobe even spent our recent moving day with his friends at Camp Ilene, so he wouldn’t get stepped on by the big moving men! If you are looking for a boarding alternative to kennels and cages, we would highly recommend that you send your special dog to Camp Ilene. Tom, Christie, Allee & Alyssa Alkema…….and Kobe!
My sweet girl Lucky has been going to Camp Ilene's for almost 7 years. Since she was a puppy. It is hard to believe how time flies. It is so nice to know that your smiling happy, playful pup will be well looked after. My husband & I do a lot of traveling. Some trips are short, some very long and some are very spur of the moment. No worries, Camp Ilene is there to help. It definitely is with great peace of mind to know that Lucky is very excited to visit and stay at Camp Ilene's. When we drop her off, she bounds up the path to the door, tail wagging. She doesn't even look back. She wants to say hello to all of her friends. We know she will be safe and loved while we are away. But, the best part is when we pick her up. Not only is she happy to see us but she is tuckered out from all of the fun. She will sleep for a day or two and then we all get the chance to recover from our adventures. From a very satisfied customer, Lucky's Mom, Lori Gomez
Hi! My name is Jesse and I love to stay at Camp Ilene. Sometimes my Moms travel to places where I can't go, so when they do, I get to come to Camp! I used to get depressed when they went away, because I had to go to a place where I sat in a cage all day. But no more!!! At Camp Ilene, I get to run free in a huge play area and come and go as I please. Each time I stay, I meet new friends and we have fun playing all day long. But the best part of all is Auntie Ilene. She loves me up and treats me just like my Moms do. I have to be honest...when my real Moms come to pick me up, even though I'm glad to see them, I don't want to leave Camp Ilene. Please don't tell them that I said that. When I get home, I'm usually pretty lazy for a day or two after having so much fun! Now I don't mind it when I see my Moms packing their suitcases...it means I'm going to Camp! So take it from me...tell your Moms and Dads today that you want to go to Camp Ilene too...it's the best place on the planet for us! Love and licks, Jesse the Aussie

Last Saturday, I visited Camp Ilene, a boarding home in Corona. I say "home" because Camp Ilene is a lot like Collie Haven. The dogs that Ilene takes care of run around together on her good-sized property. Ilene lives there alone and personally oversees everything. The day I was there, Ilene had about 10 dogs, ranging from a Lhasa to a Lionberger. She boards lots of Labs and Goldens. There was even a gentle and good-tempered Akita there. Ilene has a Sheltie of her own.
Area Coordinators, please let your adopters, including future potential adopters, know about Camp Ilene. With summer coming soon, this is a good time to let our adopters know that there IS a non-cage boarding place available, with a very reasonable price for such a place.
Camp Ilene flyers and cards are at Collie Haven. Feel free to call Ilene with questions. Now that we finally have a really nice non-cage boarding place reachable from Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange and San Diego Counties, plus the LA area, let's use it!

I'm sure you hear this quite often but it is so reassuring to know Molly is in good hands away from home. It makes me feel more relaxed about travel and, regardless of how many trips I may take without Molly along, I plan to take her to Camp Ilene on a regular basis for day care and doggie fun. Thanks again, Ilene, on behalf of Molly and me and doggies in general, for your important and good service. Maureen Murphy
Thanks again for taking such good care of Boomer! We look forward to bringing him out again soon. He clearly had a good time, and has been resting quietly since we got home yesterday afternoon :-) We are already recommending Camp Ilene to friends and family.
